Constitutional Court Cleared Way For Abolition of Death Penalty

Armenia’s highest Court ruled on Tuesday that the Armenian constitution is in compliance with the protocol 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which restricts the application of death penalty to times of war or national emergency. The abolition of death penalty is a key membership obligation that Armenia had to fulfill after joining the Council of Europe.

According to “Azg”, Armenia’s defense minister Serzh Sarkisian, who was the” Best Man” of the wedding of Robert Kocharian's son, gave as a present two wedding rings to the young couple worth of $40 000 each. Kocharian’s family then flew to Paris. While President meets French President Chirac, the married couple will spend their honeymoon in Paris.
